About The Black Neighborhood (TBN)

The Black Neighborhood (TBN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating authentic and safe spaces that empower and inspire communities. Founded in 2016, TBN provides essential programs focused on mental health, food security, youth mentorship, and wellness, including TBN: Mental Health Hikes of Healing, Free Farmers Markets, Young Men’s Leadership Program, College Readiness Program, and Domestic Violence Prevention Workshops. Each initiative fosters unity, resilience, and opportunities for growth, helping individuals and families thrive with dignity, support, and joy.

Event Overview

Since 2016, TBN’s annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive has ensured that families in need can enjoy a full Thanksgiving meal. This event has grown each year with the support of our community and partners. We are proud to partner with Prospect Sierra Schools, whose contributions since 2020 have helped us serve over 500 families each year with a turkey and a bag of essential holiday food items. This year, the event will be held at the Richmond City Recreation Complex and will feature a streamlined check-in and distribution process to make it easy and efficient for all participants.

• Date: Sunday, November 24th, 2024

• Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Arrival Instructions:

• Families will remain in vehicles and line up along Macdonald Ave.

• All recipients must be registered and have a confirmation email with a unique QR code.

Important Disclaimer:

• No Guarantee: Registration does not guarantee a turkey, as supplies are limited. We strongly recommend arriving early to increase your chances of receiving a turkey.

• One-Time Use QR Code: Each QR code can only be scanned once. Do not share your QR code with anyone else; doing so will forfeit your eligibility to receive a turkey.

• One turkey and bag of food per household.

To make check-in smooth and efficient, please follow these instructions:

-Bring Your Ticket: Each family must be registered and have a unique Eventbrite ticket. One turkey and food bag are available per registered family.

-QR Code and ID: Upon arrival, remain in your vehicle and present your QR code (from your confirmation email). ID may be required to verify your registration.

-Multiple Families Per Car: Multiple families may arrive in one vehicle; however, each family must have its own ticket to receive a turkey and food bag.

• One Turkey Per Family: Each family is eligible for one turkey and one bag of food.

• Drive-Through Only: This is a drive-through event; please remain in your vehicle for a smooth, safe experience.
