TBN Mental Health Hike #47 (Hard)

The Black Neighborhood (TBN) is a community-driven organization dedicated to advancing health equity and fostering resilience within Black communities. We focus on mental health, physical well-being, and community engagement, with a particular emphasis on empowering youth and families by addressing systemic inequities.

Our Mindfulness Hikes are part of our "We Black Outside" Movement, designed to create genuine opportunities for people to connect with nature, practice mindfulness, and promote wellness together. These spaces offer healing, connection, and community-building through shared experiences in nature.

• Hike Name: TBN Hike #47 (Hard)
• Date & Time: Sunday, September 14th | 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
• Distance: 6 miles
• Trail: West Ridge & French Ridge Trail Loop
• Meeting Point: Chabot Space & Science Center – 10000 Skyline Blvd, Oakland, CA 94619(Park in the outdoor 3-level parking deck)

• This hike is considered hard due to rugged terrain, steady uphill climbs, and a solid group pace.
• Not kid-friendly. This is an adult-oriented hike designed for experienced hikers or those ready for a challenge.
• Dog Friendly (on-leash)

• Conquer one of Oakland’s tougher ridge loops.
• Push yourself with rocky terrain, steep climbs, and rewarding views.
• Connect with a consistent and supportive community.

• Proper hiking shoes (closed-toed, with ankle support recommended)
• Water (essential)
• Snacks or light fuel
• Weather-appropriate clothing
• Backpack to carry items comfortably

• The hike will begin promptly at 9:00 AM — please arrive early to park and gather.
• This is an adult hike — no kids this time due to distance, pace, and rugged terrain.
