You are invited to a unique opportunity to explore the Taylorsville Dam on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 2PM to 5PM. This open-house event offers the community a behind-the-scenes tour of the dam. Tour highlights include:
- Hear directly from experts involved in the dam’s care and maintenance
- Learn how current and future projects are keeping the dam strong
- View an exhibit on the 1913 Flood and the history of the dam's construction
- Discover how the entire Flood Protection System operates
REGISTRATION
Registration is not required but encouraged. The first 100 registrants will receive a special gift!

DIRECTIONS
We will meet on the downstream side of Taylorsville Dam. You will take Cassel Road all the way towards the parking lot, where you find our staff there to assist you with parking. In addition, directional signs will be posted along State Route 40 to guide you to the correct entrance.
For those using Google Maps, you can search 'Taylorsville Boat Access Ramp', which will direct you to the correct location.
For Apple Maps, searching 'Cassel Road' will direct you to the correct location.
ABOUT TAYLORSVILLE DAM
Taylorsville Dam is an earthen embankment located across the Great Miami River in northern Montgomery County near the City of Vandalia. U.S. 40 goes across the top of the dam. Construction of the dam began in February of 1918 and was completed in November of 1921.
