Award-winning vocalist Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim brings the heart of jazz to life with a soul-stirring voice that captures the genre’s essence. Raised in the culturally rich borderlands of New Mexico by a German mother and a Mozambican father, Tawanda’s heritage infuses her music with a unique global flair. Her powerful vocals and deep connection to jazz’s rich traditions echo the influence of legends like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, while her contemporary style adds an innovative edge.

A graduate of Santa Fe University, Tawanda honed her love for jazz under the mentorship of industry greats and has since captivated audiences with her artistry. Winning the prestigious 2020 Sarah Vaughan Vocal Jazz competition solidified her place among jazz’s rising stars. Now based in Los Angeles, Tawanda’s performances celebrate jazz’s power to unify and inspire, sharing messages of healing and resilience that resonate deeply across cultures and generations.
