HOST: Melba Miller

Originally from Oakland, CA - Melba Miller returned to her native California after many years on the East Coast and has since performed in a wide array of venues here including Vicky’s of Santa Fe, Melvyn’s, Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival, Revolution Theater Company, and PS Underground where she recently presented,“Something Cool – Beyond the Great American Songbook” to a full house and high praise.
Known for her swinging style and her smooth horn-like phrasings, Melba’s musical influences are broad. Her sound is the sound of the cool 50's - reminiscent of Ella and Carmen … but not imitated.

The Original Cool Girls ~ Sophisticated, ironic, hip, funny, emotive, and mesmerizing. These women embodied a modern sensibility and approach that was reflected both in their material and in their distinctive sound. Some were musicians in their own right, most came out of the big band era, but each fit perfectly within the newest expression of jazz of the day.
