We are hosting a flash Sale June 27th at Cardinal Ink in the Great Lakes mall from 11am -6pm in hopes of raising money for Mia and her family. Mia would like to take a trip with her family this summer to make memories as she isn’t guaranteed next summer. All proceeds will go to Mia and her family, you are welcome to tip your artist. There will also be treats from Kippys Cakes for sale, who will also be donating all proceeds to the family as well. Don’t miss out on a chance to give back to this sweet girl and her family. Below is information about Mia and her diagnosis.
Mia was diagnosed with Microscopic Polyangiitis and Von Willebrand. Two years ago her school nurse called her mom and said she thought Mia was anemic. Her mom, confused because Mia had never been anemic, took her to her doctor and they found her hemoglobin was a deadly level of 3. After blood transfusions and iron they got her levels to a 7 and decided her base levels would always be lower then normal. The doctors didnt give any solid answers just anemia and confusion. A year later she was taken the E.R for pneumonia and it was revealed she had bleeding in her lungs. Mia had a biopsy on her lungs, blood drainage was scheduled and she was diagnosed with Microscopic polyangiitis and Von Willebrand. Since then she's had a second lung drain, a kidney biopsy, transfusions of Rituximab regularly, as well as steroids upon steroids and she now takes up to 6 pills daily. Unfortunately Mia’s lungs haven't been right since the first blood drain and constantly in and out of lung failure and does breathing tests so often she knows the birds (it’s the breathing test she does). Mom says, Mia is so much more than her sickness, she is a beautiful and strong girl. She raises animals, loves to travel, an A/B student and shes not afraid to be her weird, unique and gorgeous self. She impresses me, and I hope people learn from her strength!
A message from Mia: "I just want to say thank you its sometimes hard to do things everyone else can do but I have really good doctors and my mom and dad are always there with me, i know that with my sickness I do have to be ready for anything but I am ready. I wont stop traveling or being with animals or playing with my sister or dancing and singing and i just want to say thank you for also supporting me, oh and my main doctor is Doctor Borgia and hes a really good doctor!"
