Description
Discover the flavors, stories, and cooking techniques of Taiwan in a class led by two guest chefs from the Taiwan Society of Houston. This special event brings authentic Taiwanese home‑cooking and night‑market culture straight into our kitchen classroom, guided by experts who grew up with these dishes and know the traditions behind them. Participants will observe chefs who have deep roots in Taiwanese cuisine. They’ll share personal insights, regional variations, and the “why” behind each technique—transforming the class into both a cooking lesson and a cultural exchange. Expect lively conversation, sensory learning, and the kind of tips you only get from people who have been making these dishes their whole lives. Demonstration with dinner . You will not be cooking in this class. 21 or older? You'll enjoy a glass of wine that has been paired with your meal.
Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council conducts an annual Taiwan International Culinary Tour, sending distinguished Taiwanese chefs abroad to showcase the nation’s culinary heritage and strengthen cultural exchange. These events introduce global audiences to the depth and diversity of Taiwanese cuisine while enabling visiting chefs to learn from local food traditions, fostering a mutually enriching cultural dialogue.
The 2026 program will be presented in collaboration with the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women – Southern USA Chapter and Central Market. This partnership brings a meaningful cultural initiative to Houston, honoring Taiwan’s rich traditions and recognizing the organization’s 41 years of service to the local community through the unifying medium of food.
