Let's play some games, make some art, and chill out in nature! Grown ups need summer camp too!
About this Event

Connect with your inner child for some play and wonder for mini (1.5 hour) summer camp sessions for grown ups!

Our time spent together will invite play, connection, and curiosity. We will play games that will help us tune into our senses. Nature-based activities will help us learn and practice somatic safety exercises and deepen relationship with Earth community through exploration and getting creative. The breadth of invitations will include various games, art, opportunities to be curious with Earth, body-based somatic safety practices that you can do anywhere, landscape-based somatic safety practices that tend the nervous system in relationship with Earth, mindfulness practices, and meditations.

July 11th: Stealth Mode-Can you mimic echolocation? Do you want to challenge your sense of hearing, stealth, and spatial awareness? We will play various games with blindfolds and a spray bottle full of water
July 25th: It's a Bugs World-Get up close and personal with some of our local critters, learn about habitat gardens and our tiny friends who call them home
August 8th: Nature Art- Let's chill out under a tree or in the gardens appreciating the beauty of the world around us.
Materials provided include: pastels, acrylic paint & markers, colored pencils, small canvas, small circular wooden plaques, beads, glue, bedazzle jewels, materials from nature like sticks, petals, pinecones, etc. You are welcome to bring additional materials you would like to get creative with or your own nature materials!
August 22nd: Water Works! Think water-themed field day but more relaxed and add a drop of meditation. Wear clothes you're ok getting wet in!

Access information (everything listed is by choice, but it will give you a sense of the activities we will do): running (depending on participant desire), possibly wearing a bandana over your eyes and using the sense of hearing during games, throwing and catching balls, getting sprayed by water or having water dumped on you, walking on uneven surfaces, up to a mile in distance, and potential exposure to stinging & biting insects and ticks and plants that could cause skin irritation and disease. Meditation, mindfulness, and somatic safety & containment exercises can be activating depending on your body’s experience. All games & practices are optional and we will review how to listen to our bodies' yes's and no's.
Please email Alexa White at [email protected] to share any access needs at least 3 days before each session.
There will be paper waiver and photo release at sign in in the nursery. The waiver is mandatory for participation and the photo release is optional.
You can read both here: https://drive.proton.me/urls/0Q9NJ73M6G#R6AjN74Y63Bm
No one turned away for lack of funds!
In a practice of community care, if you are feeling sick, please take care of your body and of the health of others and do not attend. Refunds are offered up until 24 hours before the start of the event.

You can participate in one session or come to multiple. While each session will offer a foundation for senses awareness, somatic safety practices, skills & tools will layer and spiral back as the year goes on. Possible experiences may include and will become more accessible with repeated practice:
-being delighted by the magic of the world around us

-opportunities for wonder, awe, curiosity, and play

-relaxation and unwinding in your body by stretching the back body, lateral eye movement, and using specific self-touch on ears, arms, fingers, and legs that may send safety cues to your nervous system (these are examples of some somatic safety practices we will review)
-deepening relationship, grounding, and connection with Earth, self, and human community through games, getting curious in the garden, listening to birdsong and the wind, breath, tuning into our senses, journaling, communing with the living beings around us during sitspot, and meditation

-sharing tools & resources for mutual aid, community connection, and community organizing
A website is in the works! For now, you may email Alexa White at [email protected] to inquire about any of the additional services I offer: customizable group ecological, somatic, and mindfulness workshops, one-on-one piano & viola lessons, and educator & facilitator trainings and consulting
