Religious or not, you are most welcome to join the conversation, as we welcome theologian and author Dr. Selina Stone in conversation with Rev. Dr. Jessie Fubara-Manuel. Selina is author of Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for Peope of Faith (the Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent Book 2024) Drawing on the rich traditions of black spirituality, our speakers will help us explore the varied approaches to prayer and its meaningfulness in the lives of many.
A time of audience Q&A will be followed by a drinks reception together.

More About the Speakers:
Dr. Selina Stone is Lecturer in Theology and Ethics at the University of Edinburgh. As a theologian, her work is focused on the urgent social issues that face us as human beings in the UK and across the world. Raised in inner-city Birmingham in the African Caribbean Pentecostal church, her PhD involved an interdisciplinary study bringing womanist ethics into dialogue with Pentecostal spirituality and theology. Her MA in Theology, Politics and Faith-Based Organisations is from King's College London (2014).
Selina is the author of Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for People of Faither (The Archbishop of Canterbury's Lent Book 2024), and Spirit and the Body: Towards a Womanist Pentecostal Social Justice Ethic.
Jessie Fubara-Manuel is a licensed Reverend Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN), where she serves as the Gender and Disability Advisor for Presbyterian Community Services and Development, a role that seeks the inclusion of disability and gender concerns in the policy and practice of the church. Jessie completed her PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, where her research examined the role of Christian faith for women who are living with disability and HIV in South-South Nigeria. She is a resource person and facilitator for the World Council of Churches programs on HIV and Disability. She has published two books, several articles and book chapters in the areas of gender, disability, and HIV.
