Wisconsin is not the only region to stake their claim on a cocktail, with the Old Fashioned. Throughout Mexico and the Southwestern United States, communities have made numerous contributions to the larger drinking culture. With pride in their traditions, we have seen the popularity of these drinks expand beyond their borders and into our local bars. However, it’s always best to go to the source. In this class, we will tour these regions and see what and how they drink. From New Mexico to Old Oaxaca, the best way to learn about people is by sharing a drink!
Expectations:
1. This class will focus on Cocktails and Culture. Learning about five different regions through the lense of their drinking culture.
2. A step by step instruction for preparations and service of culturally significant cocktails, both alcoholic and non alcoholic.
3. Enjoying food that compliments the beverages.
Objectives:
1. Understand how the cultural influence in these regions have contributed to the creation and popularity of these drinks.
2. Learn how to construct the drinks such as the Chimayo, Cazuela Voladora, Carajillo, Agua de Jamaica, and the Guava Margarita.
3. Discussing the best way to serve and entertain your guests with these beverages as they would in the region
