Tanzania Heritage Month & Union Day Flag Raising Ceremony 2026
Join us for a vibrant and historic celebration as the Tanzanian community in Brampton gathers to commemorate Tanzania Heritage Month and Union Day with an official Tanzanian Flag Raising Ceremony at Brampton City Hall.
Hosted by Yes Youth and Women Can (YYWC) in collaboration with the Tanzanian community in Brampton, this special event celebrates Tanzania’s cultural heritage while highlighting the contributions of the Tanzanian diaspora to Canada’s diverse and multicultural society.
This celebration brings together community members, leaders, families, and friends to reflect on Tanzania’s rich history, cultural traditions, and the values of unity that define the nation.
Why April 26?
April 26 marks Tanzania’s Union Day, the historic day in 1964 when Tanganyika and Zanzibar united to form the United Republic of Tanzania.
This day represents unity, identity, and national pride for Tanzanians across the world.
Raising the Tanzanian flag at Brampton City Hall is a powerful symbol of recognition, multicultural celebration, and community belonging within our diverse city.
