Don't miss this chance to learn from a highly accomplished teacher with over 35 years of experience!
Marcelo Almiron is a native of Buenos Aires and a professional dancer, choreographer and tango teacher who possesses vast, extensive and profound experience, acquired from the finest masters and teachers in Buenos Aires.
For many years he has performed on prestigious and traditional Buenos Aires stages and in tango shows: La Cumparsita, Bar Sur, La Ventana, El Viejo Almacén, Homero Manzi and Café Tortoni. Between 2001 and 2002, he took part in a tango show at the Teatro Colón (with Marisa Quiroga as prima ballerina), and in Una Suite de Tango at the Borges Cultural Centre with dancers from the Teatro Colón.
He was invited to take part in the first and second editions of the World Tango Festival in Buenos Aires. He came second in the La Viruta and Tangauta Tango Championships in 2002. He was a finalist in the World Championships in 2006.
He has taught intensive Canyengue Tango seminars in various Argentine cities. In Buenos Aires, he taught at the most prestigious tango schools (Esc. Argentina de Tango, Tango Brujo, Made in Tango, Salon Canning , Viejo Correo and Milonguera).
Marcelo’s Argentine roots and the knowledge he acquired from masters who are no longer with us, as well as from more contemporary figures: masters of canyengue, traditional/salon tango, milonguero, tango show (stage), tango nuevo and milonga – but also his experience in other dance styles (salsa, modern dance, jazz, breakdancing and rock and roll)
He has taught widely throughout Europe, and is one of the few in Europe who dances the different styles of tango and can demonstrate their differences and subtleties. He is familiar with both old tango techniques and new, contemporary styles and movement methods. He is equally at home in milonguero tango or old-style canyengue, as well as in traditional tango, a broad style of salon tango.
