TANGAROA FISHING COMPETITION 2026Background:
The Waikite Fishing Club is hosting the next Tangaroa Fishing competition on Saturday 31 January 2026.
The competition Categories, Prizes and Rules are as follows:
1. Best Condition Factor Rainbow senior angler $100
2. Heaviest Brown $50 (Hosts discretion if none caught)
3. Heaviest overall Rainbow $50
4. Best Condition Factor Rainbow junior angler$50
5. Best Condition Factor Rainbow female angler $50
Competition Rules:
1. Fishing is permitted on Lakes Rotorua, Rotoiti and Tarawera.
2. All participants must hold a valid trout fishing license.
3. Weigh in will commence at 12.00pm and close at 2.00pm on the competition day.No fish will be accepted for “weigh in” outside these times.
4. All fish weighed in must be a minimum length of 40cm.
5. Junior anglers are not eligible for the best condition factor rainbow senior angler competition category or prize but are eligible for the overall best condition factor rainbow trophy points.
6. Only one fish per person will be eligible for each of the competition categories and prizes.
7. Prize giving & formalities are not to commence until 3.30pm.
Please Note:
a. The clubs have agreed to provide a $150 koha to the host club to assist with Kai. The details on the bank account to deposit the koha into are attached.
b. The clubs also agreed to koha sponsored prizes for a spot prize draw. It would be helpful if the prizes could be received prior to the competition day.
