This year, Tamarack Lodge is proud to host the Tamarack Ride for Hope, a motorcycle run benefiting Bags of Hope, a local nonprofit dedicated to supporting children in foster care. Enjoy a scenic ride through the back roads and countryside of southeastern Connecticut, returning to Tamarack Lodge for food, live music, raffles, and community celebration.
Every day, children in foster care experience sudden transitions, loss, and instability. They enter the foster care system often carrying little more than a trash bag of belongings and uncertainty about what comes next. Through the generosity of organizations like Bags of Hope and the support of caring community members, these children receive comfort, encouragement, and the resources they need to feel seen, valued, and supported.
Bags of Hope supports children in foster care throughout Connecticut by providing personalized comfort bags, school supplies, birthday gifts, holiday assistance, and other resources designed to meet both practical and emotional needs. Whether it is a backpack for school, a birthday celebration, or the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities, these supports help children build confidence, create connections, and experience a sense of belonging.
Bags of Hope works every day to provide these supports, ensuring that children entering foster care know they are not alone.

Through CT Coastal Academy, we have worked with many students who have experienced significant adversity, including foster care placement. We have seen firsthand the impact that community support can have on a child's confidence, resilience, and future.
Each year, CT Coastal Academy students participate in a toy drive benefiting Bags of Hope as a way of giving back and helping other children facing similar challenges.
