The public is invited to a lecture by Tamara Lorincz, an illustrious leader of the Canadian peace movement, upon her return from a visit to Russia. She will discuss her experience at the Eurasian Women's Forum, the BRICS Women's Meeting, and the Baltic Sea & Arctic Peace and Nature Conference in St. Petersburg, Russia, where she gave several presentations. Tamara spoke at MGIMO University in Moscow, and had meetings with the Institute for US?CAN Studies among others. Ms. Lorincz was in Russia for two weeks and talked with many people about the war in Ukraine, NATO, and BRICS. She will share what she learned there as well as her views on the escalating danger of large wars in both West Asia and with China over Taiwan. Finally and importantly, Tamara will offer her own ideas for building peace and a more just and peaceful world order.Tamara's lecture is co-sponsored by the Council of Canadians (Hamilton Chapter).
In her Hamilton lecture, Tamara will also promote the Counter Summit in Montreal on November 24th, 2024. On that weekend, there will be a demonstration and popular assembly (the Counter Summit) to oppose NATO's Parliamentary Assembly in Montreal, which runs from November 22-25. Hamiltonians are urged to travel with us to Montreal for that important event.
Upon her return to Canada, Tamara was detained and harassed by the Canadian Border Service Agency and CSIS (the Canadian Security Intelligence Service) at Toronto International Airport. You can hear the details here at her 30-minute interview with Phil Taylor on The Taylor Report: https://soundcloud.com/taylor-report/break-with-nato
Tamara's lecture in Hamilton will be the first of several such lectures on her tour of Central Canada, which will continue into November.
