Tamale Workshop (& tasting!) at Somos Watsonville

Welcome to the Tamale Workshop (& tasting!) at Somos Watsonville! Join us at Somos: café & community center for a fun-filled event where you'll learn how to make delicious tamales from scratch from local chefs (moms & abuelas). Learn recipes for filling, how to mix and spread masa, and the different varieties of tamales throughout different regions of Mexico -- all while listening to classic Mexican crooners and getting to know the local community.

We'll be preparing tamales for the Somos 1 Year Anniversary party the next day -- Saturday January 18 at 5 pm. Your participation in the workshop gives you 1 free ticket and free take-home tamales to share with your family! A donation to Somos Watsonville is a donation to the local community -- especially those farmworkers who grow the food that we eat.

Somos Watsonville is a nonprofit, inclusive, bilingual gathering space, where young people and their families can explore their identities, connect with others, receive support and skills, and engage in fellowship and fun. We hope to establish a sanctuary in the city where young people feel empowered to explore and experience emotional, psychological, and spiritual wholeness.
