Gordon Urquhart will explore the work of James Sellars, focusing on the exquisite ornamental ironwork he designed for his buildings.
About this Event

James Sellars was a major star in Victorian Glasgow’s architectural firmament, producing some of the city’s finest churches, schools, recreational and commercial buildings before his premature death in 1888, aged only 44.

Renowned for his “fertile mind and facile pencil,” Sellars often designed exquisite ornamental ironwork for his buildings and the talk will discuss surviving examples of this work and also explore the often misunderstood relationship between Glasgow’s architects and its major cast iron foundries.

Time: Doors open 7pm for 7:30pm start.
Tickets: £6.00 with refreshments, no booking necessary. Cash and card payments accepted.
