Book Synopsis: ‘Beauty in the Bayou: Poetry, Prophesy, Storytelling & Art’ :
Physical enslavement of African Americans may have ended on paper in 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment, but the South was last to know. Beauty in the Bayou seeks to shine light in the dark corners that further explain why the South is considered to be “the bottom” over a century later by examining the inner links of the chains that are still keeping people enslaved both mentally and spiritually. Being from the South herself, the artist, Corinthian Elizabeth, is sharing how these same chains once had her bound through an autobiography of poems and original paintings that narrate and illustrate her journey to freedom. She shares her story of how revisiting the place that she will always love, home, has helped her heal and become whole. Corinthian invites you on her journey to freedom as she breaks a plethora of generational curses with the desire to bring hope, healing, and greater awareness to all that will open this book. This book is for anyone desiring to be free.
