Lord George Sanger always said he was born in Newbury and maintained contact with the town all his life, bringing his circus to the town regularly, culminating in donating the statue of Queen Victoria and four lions to the town in 1903. Ros Clow has been researching the life of Lord George Sanger since 2021 and wants to remind people that Sanger was a brilliant entrepreneur and a household name. There is now a campaign to make British Circus a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Bookings close at 4pm the day before the talk.
December marks the bicentenary of Lord George Sanger’s alleged birth in Newbury.
