The first talk of the new TASKL season will take place on Thursday 10th September and will be 'The Life and Work of William Moorcroft' presented by James Smallwood. Moorcroft (1872 – 1945) was brought up in the back streets of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent and was an orphan when he was just 12. Perhaps his difficult early life helped develop his strength of character and resilience that saw him establish himself as the most accomplished studio potter of recent times. James Smallwood has a successful lecturing career speaking to horticultural groups and for the RHS. He has been a keen collector of Moorcroft pottery for over 30 years and has an extensive collection as well as having an in depth knowledge of past and present processes of manufacture.
Talks are free to TASKL members, guests always welcome for £10 cash.
