Discover the life and work of artist Hilma af Klint in this talk with art historian and critic Julia Voss.
Hilma af Klint was an exceptional artist in many respects. In the 19th century, she was an award-winning painter who studied at the academy, exhibited her paintings, accepted commissions, and travelled as far as Italy to further her studies. Upon her return, at the dawn of the 20th century, she began work on her spiritual oeuvre, which would occupy her throughout her life. In the 21st century, she achieved worldwide fame for her ground-breaking work. This lecture will guide you through the crucial stages and turning points in the artist's life and legacy.
Guest speaker Julia Voss is an art historian and art critic. She is honorary professor at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and curator at the German Historical Museum in Berlin. She is author of the biography, Hilma af Klint (English, 2022).
