About this Event
Join us on Friday 27th February, in the Museum at 2pm, as we explore why Europe became divided into rival power blocs by 1900 and how competition, alliances and fear made the continent increasingly unstable. The talk examines how these tensions turned local disputes into international crises — and why Europe stood on the brink of catastrophe.
This is the first talk in our ‘20th Century International History’ series, presented by Lee Steptoe, throughout 2026. You can purchase a Series Ticket for access to all ten talks. See below for details on each talk, including dates and topics.
