Join us for Dom's talk about his experiences as a mental health counsellor with a disability (Cerebral Palsy), and his work as a Specialist Motor Functions Counsellor.
Dom specialises in working with clients with disabilities and neurodivergence. Here is a brief overview of what the talk will consist of from our guest speaker Dom:
- 5 mins: Intro - what I do (Disability Plus)
- 10 mins: Background - coming from journalism to counselling and transferable skills
- 10 mins: Challenges of being a counsellor with Cerebral Palsy and neurodivergence, and working with clients with disabilities and neurodivergence
- 10 mins: The importance of finding the right supervisor, network (BACP) and being yourself in a counselling/helping role
