Talk: Touched by the presence , from rock and roll to the occult. Gary Lachman is the Ex-Guitarist from rock band BLONDIE.

Not every member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is also a recognised
authority on the western esoteric tradition. Gary Lachman is. _Touched
By The Presence: From Blondie's Bowery and Rock and Roll to Magic and
the Occult _is Lachman's account of how he went from playing in rock
bands and recording albums to writing books about consciousness,
philosopy and the occult. His journey takes us from his early
inspiration through comic books and weird fiction, to Hermann Hesse,
Nietzsche and Sartre, and his life amid glamorous squalor in the
infamous Blondie loft, a block from CBGB, the heart of the NYC
underground rock scene of the 1970s. Post-rock and roll, Lachman studied
philosophy, managed a New Age bookshop, sought out ley lines and
megaliths, dallied with Aleister Crowley and Gurdjieff, worked as a
Science Writer, and entered a thirty-year friendship with the writer
Colin Wilson, a reading of whose _The Outsider _changed Lachman's life.
Since 1996 Lachman has lived in London and over the past thirty years
has produced twenty-seven books, as well as scores of articles, essays,
reviews, and interviews dealing with questions of consciousness and the
hidden powers of the mind."

Bio

Gary Lachman is the author of several books about consciousness, culture, and the Western esoteric tradition, including Dreaming Ahead of Time, The Return of Holy Russia,  Dark Star Rising: Magick and Power in the Age of Trump, Lost Knowledge of the Imagination, Beyond the Robot: The Life and Work of Colin Wilson, and, most recently Touched By The Presence: From Blondie’s Bowery and Rock and Roll to Magic and the Occult. He has written biographies of C G Jung, Madame Blavatsky, Rudolf Steiner, Emanuel Swedenborg, P D Ouspensky, and Aleister Crowley. He writes for several journals in the US, UK, and Europe, lectures around the world and his work has been translated into more than a dozen languages. In a former life he was a founding member of the pop group Blondie and in 2006 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
