TALAMH - HERITAGE WALK & SKETCH WORKSHOP - IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK
About this Event
TALAMH - If these walls could talk - Heritage Walk & Sketch Workshop.
Discover Rothe House & Garden through a creative lens in this guided walk-and-sketch workshop exploring how historic places hold memory, atmosphere, and emotion. Participants will be led by Kilkenny artist Blaise Butler on a short observational walk through the building and gardens, stopping to create quick sketches in response to architectural details, textures, and emotions or thoughts that arise from the space.
Following the walk, participants will take a seat and develop a more detailed drawing inspired by their sketches, encouraged to incorporate imaginative or surreal elements such as how the space may have looked in the past, who may have lived there, or how the site might evolve in the future. The workshop focuses on interpretation and creative response rather than technical drawing skill.
Suitable for beginners and experienced participants alike, this is a relaxed and supportive session designed to encourage curiosity, observation, and connection to Kilkenny’s built heritage.
With consent, Drawings may be documented as part of TALAMH - Mapping Memory & Place, a wider creative project exploring collective connections to land and heritage across Kilkenny.
