About this Event
Whether you are a trail runner, skier, hiker, climber, or simply love being in nature, the culture of the outdoor community often carries an unspoken pressure to look, move, and fuel a certain way. From the toxic "lighter is faster" mentality to the lack of body diversity in adventure spaces, it is time to change the narrative.
Taking Up Space is an intimate, honest community conversation dedicated to breaking down these pressures. Join us as we share stories, challenge diet culture, and discuss what it truly means to occupy space physically, mentally, and culturally in the outdoors.
Key Discussion Topics:
- Dismantling Mountain Diet Culture: Confronting disordered eating and the pressure to shrink ourselves to fit the "ideal" outdoor aesthetic.
- Reclaiming Fuel: Shifting our mindset from "earning our food" to properly nourishing our bodies for big days on the trail or peak.
- Redefining Movement: Divorcing our love for nature from calorie-burning, and returning to the pure joy of moving outdoors.
