Take a Walk on the Wild Side
About this Event
This is our fourth and final event in our "Take a Walk on the Wild Side" hiking series for 2026. This walk will center around identifying species of native flora that are commonly found along the Haw River with an emphasis on their medicinal properties. Join herbalist and plant enthusiast Deanna Carter of Verdant Botanica and native plant propagator Becca Beechhold for an easy 2-mile round trip morning walk along the Haw River to Pokeberry Creek. We'll observe seasonal changes along the Haw River, talk about native flora, and explore their medicinal uses! Please wear sturdy shoes for walking on uneven ground and bring adequate water. Friendly dogs are welcome on leash. We have only 8 spaces available so sign up soon!
