About the Book
Yorkshire is a county with a rich historical heritage, and a high level of ghostly and paranormal activity. With a wealth of ancient buildings as well as expanses of natural landscape, the presence of the past can often be detected in these buildings and places.
In this book tales of hauntings are discovered in Yorkshire’s old houses and mansions, its castles and religious buildings as well as hospitals, theatres, museums and other spaces.
Ghostly presences have also been experienced along roads and on bridges, beside the coast and other watery spots, and spectres range from Roman soldiers to the Barghest – a monstrous black dog. Paranormal Yorkshire takes the reader into the world of ghosts and spirits in the county, following their footsteps into the unknown.
About the Author
After a twenty-year career in IT, Meryl James took a degree in English Language and Literature and a Diploma in Creative Writing from the Open University. She has written short stories, specialising in tales with a twist, and her work Into the Blue was published in the anthology Journey through uncertainty and other short stories, and has also written poems and other pieces for children.
She lives in her home county of Yorkshire and has a particular interest in tales of the supernatural of her local area.
