About this Event
What is Tai Chi? Tai Chi Chuan or tai chi, pronounced "tie chee," is a gentle exercise program that is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Tai Chi is derived from the martial arts and is composed of slow deliberate movements, meditation, and deep breathing which enhance physical health and emotional well-being.
Class Overview: All are welcome—beginners, intermediate, and advanced students alike. Children, seniors, and even non-ambulatory individuals (who can participate from a seated position) can benefit from the practice. Our primary focus will be on internal health and wellness. We'll start by building a strong foundation through basic movements and principles, and above all safety is our top priority.
When: Saturdays (Check calendar for dates)
Time: 10:30am-11:30am
Location: The Grove Stage | Please meet on the Grove Stage 10 minutes prior to start time. (Follow the shell stone path to the left of the public restrooms north to the Grove Stage.)

About our Instructor:
Tony Garcia teaches various Tai Chi forms and has studied different forms of Tai Chi and Qigong for over 20 years in the USA, China and Australia. He was an instructor with the Taoist Tai Chi Society and has studied different styles of martial arts for over 30 years.Tony has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and studied with Master Jiho Choi in NJ.

By registering/purchasing tickets, I understand that tai chi includes physical movements as well as an opportunity for relaxation, stress re-education and relief of muscular tension. Participation in tai chi class includes, but is not limited to, meditation techniques, tai chi breathing techniques and performing various tai chi postures. Tai chi is designed to exercise every part of the body-stretching and toning the muscles and joints, spine and the entire skeletal system. Tai chi incorporates sustained stretching to strengthen the muscles and increase flexibility.
As in the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, disability or death, is always present. If I experience any pain or discomfort, I will listen to my body, adjust the posture and ask for support from the instructor.
Tai chi is not recommended and is not safe under certain medical conditions. This class involves outdoor physical activity in warm weather conditions. Those with medical conditions should obtain approval from their attending physician before participating in this class. By registering, this is an agreement that participants with health conditions are confirming that they have consulted with an appropriate physician and received clearance to participate.
I am participating in the tai chi class at my own risk.

- The designated meeting location is provided in the event description. Please arrive by the program's start time so you do not miss or interrupt class. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals.

- Full refund may be issued if we are notified 72 hours prior to class.
- NO REFUNDS will be issued less than 72 hours prior to class.
- If you can no longer attend your scheduled class and would like to transfer your ticket to a future class, please notify us at least 72 hours prior . You may only transfer to a class based on open availability.
- If the instructor or Mead Botanical Garden, Inc. needs to cancel class for any reason a full refund will be issued to participants.
