================================
We are a group of professional artists who meet regularly to discuss our ideas with a view to creating thematically linked group exhibitions. Our first exhibition together was in 2021 at the Lucky Rabbit Artist’s House Gallery. That exhibition was entirely photographic in nature, and was titled “DEBRIS”. We work in many media, including photography, sound, painting, installation, film, and text based. Our intention is to include several media and installation ideas in order to engage the viewers in a more immersive experience than “stand back from” photography.
We will present individual and personal points of view through sound recordings of conversations by the four artists. Included will be life sized representations of the individual artists perhaps of sheer fabric, in order to create a sense of immateriality-we would be present, and not present. The walls will be used to display artworks by the individual artists in order to include their individual ideas and personal directions.
A table and four chairs will be located in the middle of the gallery, inviting visitors to “take a seat” in the gallery space. This component, mirroring our meetings, would allow for viewer participation in ways that are still being explored. Photography and voice recordings would be primary components of the exhibition, with other media to be included as identified by the group. The aim is to present a coherent and refined exhibition by the collaborative team.
Susan Tileston
It’s all about the light: how it changes a mood, evokes a feeling, enhances a face.
And it’s never the same. Which is why I carry my iPhone everywhere. Because you never know what you’ll see around the corner.
Ray Mackie
I work across many media, and enjoy collaborative activity. I think of all my work as part of a self portrait project in which each medium and activity reveals aspect of my inner life. Pottery has been my first love, and focuses me on ideas about containment and nourishment. Painting and drawing overlap with my ceramic work, and also function as a mechanism to explore my inner life through metaphors and symbols.
Photography also contributes by bringing images of the physical world of light and form into the mix. All of these media are interdependent and contribute to a larger understanding of my life project.
Tim Wilson
Having spent most of my career in documentary filmmaking, interviewing and radio production, I’ve turned in recent years to employing those same skills in exploring, as honestly and intimately as possible, the mixed blessings of old age.
Susan Tooke
Working with altered and layered audio paired with visual imagery I create environments exploring the relationship between the senses.
Focusing on environmental issues, Susan has developed visual symbolism for life forms impacted by the elements and layered through time. While painting is the foundation of her studio work, she is also known for her work in media arts, including sound, video and animation, and illustration. She is a recipient of the prestigious Established Artist Recognition Award in acknowledgement of her artistic contribution to the province of Nova Scotia.
