Syriana Cultural Salon: A New Beginning

​​Join us for the relaunch of our cultural salon with a thought-provoking cultural dinner featuring an open conversation on the dramatic developments in Syria, the homeland, and the inspiration behind Syriana’s cultural projects.

This engaging event will be hosted by our co-founder, Dr. Majd AlGhatrif, who has just returned from a humanitarian peacebuilding mission in Syria. Dr. AlGhatrif will share his unique first-hand insights and reflections, offering a perspective shaped by his extensive work in humanitarian and academic fields.

As many of our patrons know, Dr. AlGhatrif is a Syrian-American Associate Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University and a scholar in international studies with a focus on post-conflict peacebuilding. Alongside his wife, Rasha Obaid, the couple founded Syriana as a living example of peacebuilding, employing Syrian refugees of diverse backgrounds and enriching the American social fabric by raising awareness of Syria’s cultural treasures.

In addition to his work with Syriana Cafe, Dr. AlGhatrif leads various humanitarian and peacebuilding initiatives in Syria through Syriana.org. His broad experience provides a unique perspective on Syria’s challenges, both global and local. It offers lessons that may help address the divisions we face in the United States.
