The Syracuse Free-mo group invites you to join us for the 2026 Great New York State Model Train Fair (modeltrainfair.com) at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY.
The Free-mo setup will take place on Friday, November 13, with the public show running Saturday, November 14 (10 AM - 5 PM) and Sunday, November 15 (10 AM - 4 PM). We can access the building on Friday after 10:30 AM, Saturday after 8 AM, and Sunday after 9 AM.
We currently have approximately 50' × 90' of floor space in an L-shape, located in the corner area we've used in the past. The space may be able to expand within that footprint as we get closer to the show.
Setup
Module arrival begins at approximately 10:30 AM Friday, with a goal of having everyone onsite by noon. We'll start assembling the layout as soon as the key modules arrive.
If you can't arrive by noon, that's OK - please indicate your expected arrival time when you register. In order to keep setup moving modules arriving after noon may need to be placed at the ends of the layout. This allows us to complete as much of the assembly and electrical work as possible without having to hold up the main layout while waiting for late arrivals.
As exhibitors, we will have drive-in access for unloading on Friday. Please plan to unload your vehicle and move it out of the unloading area promptly so others can access the building.
Technical & Operational Guidelines
Modules should meet current Free-mo interface, track, and electrical standards, including a functional accessory bus and ground wire. Completed scenery is preferred, but first-time and work-in-progress modules are welcome as long as they meet the minimum operational requirements.
October 24th is the deadline for module submissions to receive priority in the layout plan. After that date, we'll continue to accept modules as space permits.
Want to participate?
Modules aren't required! We're also looking for people interested in helping with setup, teardown, operations, DCC, or just running trains and having a good time.
