SYNAPSES, a new comedy-drama from Gúna Nua Theatre Company (directed by Paul Meade)
“Open, honest… leaving you feeling you’ve stepped inside their lives.” - Irish Independent
“Impressive, Demanding… Instantaneous” - NoMoreWorkhorse
A fast, funny, emotionally charged story about love, memory, and the romance of parenting. Mike and Emily, a young divorced couple, are constantly rowing about money, access, and parenting styles. One fateful afternoon, for the sake of their son, they try to find a better way. It all goes wrong, it all goes right, and an electrical fault spins them (and us) back and forth through time in search of the truth. The show speaks to anyone who has, is, or might someday be a parent, and our Civic audience feedback reflected a multi-generational resonance, especially around family, commitment, and the truth of long term love.
“The brilliant fast paced script, that was expertly delivered, carried the audience on a totally immersive journey.”
“We were totally engaged from start to finish. The transition from time frame to time frame, past to present, was seamless."
“Myself and my daughter attended. We both loved it. It gave us a chance to communicate with each other what we thought might happen in the future. It was engaging, thought-provoking & moving, without a 'Hollywood ending' & more powerful for it.”
