The centrepiece of this concert is Berlioz’s groundbreaking Symphonie Fantastique, a pioneering masterpiece of the Romantic era. This epic orchestral work tells the passionate story of an artist's fever dream of unrequited love, culminating in his dramatic descent into madness and the flames of hell.
The concert also features virtuoso Canberra violist Alina Zamfir playing Rebecca Clarke's entrancing Viola Concerto, and the joyful Happy Occasion Overture by Australian composer Miriam Hyde.
