Hobby Zen Life is hosting a casual Tamiya RC meetup at Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park on SATURDAY, 22 AUGUST 2026 12pm - 4pm.
The idea is to bring together as many nostalgic 1:10 Tamiya cars from around Sydney as possible for a relaxed afternoon of grass bashing, checking out different builds, taking photos and meeting other people in the hobby.
This is not a formal race meeting but there will be a medium sized track, lap timer & small jumps for some chill laps & banter. It is a casual, family-friendly meetup for beginners, experienced hobbyists, parents, kids and anyone interested in Tamiya RC cars.

Time: 12:00 pm–4:00 pm
Location: Cathy Freeman Park, Sydney Olympic Park
Bring any electric 1:10 Tamiya RC car that can handle driving on grass - vintage or modern, stock or modified.
What to bring
-Your Tamiya RC car(s), transmitter and charged batteries
-Chairs or a picnic rug
-Sun protection and water
-Your own food and drinks
-Wholesome family friendly vibes
Food is BYO, although cafés and restaurants are available nearby. Public toilets are also located nearby.
Paid street parking is available around the Sydney Olympic Park area, subject to availability.
Important information
Electric RC cars only—no nitro cars
Children must be supervised by an adult
Please drive responsibly around spectators and other park users
Please respect the park and take all rubbish with you
The meetup is weather dependent
