Tucked away on the Sycamore Trail along the Des Moines River, this hidden gem delivers one of the most unique trail running experiences in Iowa. Winter weather here is never predictable. Rain, snow, and biting cold can quickly give way to sunny 50-degree days that make for some of the fastest dirt trails in the state.
This race welcomes both seasoned trail veterans and first-time participants, offering rolling single-track trails, sweeping river views, and frequent wildlife sightings. It’s an 8-mile blend of groomed trail and raw adventure, making it a true Des Moines tradition to close out the racing season.
