Swopera, Opera Re-Imagined

Opera Reimagined is an informal evening of opera designed to welcome new audiences and families into classical music. Taking place at Niamos, Hulme at 16:30, the performance features 10 singers from the Royal Northern College of Music alongside the Lirica String Quartet.

The programme presents selected opera scenes with gender-swapped casting, offering a playful and thought-provoking way to experience familiar music. Moments of humour sit alongside genuine emotional storytelling, creating a performance that feels relaxed, engaging, and accessible, no prior opera knowledge required.

Tickets are £5, with all proceeds supporting Songbirds, a Community Interest Company that brings live music into the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, giving children joy during times of uncertainty and worry. Donations to Niamos are warmly welcomed.
