Résumé: En Suisse, terre de consensus et de neutralité, des voix inédites s’élèvent, celles de femmes qui se battent pour la reconnaissance du racisme structurel, déconstruisent les stéréotypes et revendiquent leur double identité suisse et noire. Dans ce contexte, Rachel M’Bon, journaliste suisso-congolaise, entame sa propre quête identitaire. En cheminant vers l’affranchissement, elle interroge son passé, son présent et tend un miroir à son pays et à ses pairs.
Ce film, a remporté le Prix du cinéma suisse et le Prix Artopie au Festival International du Film sur les Droits Humains en 2023. La même année, Rachel M’Bon figure parmi les 100 personnalités les plus influentes de Suisse selon le journal Le Temps.

The Swiss Representations in Canada present the Swiss Film Club!
October edition: BECOMING A BLACK WOMAN (2022) by Rachel M'Bon
[CH, documentary, 50 min, French with English subtitles]
Synopsis: In Switzerland, a land of consensus and neutrality, unprecedented voices are being raised by women who are fighting for the recognition of structural racism, deconstructing stereotypes and claiming their dual Swiss and black identity. In this context, Rachel (Barbezat) M'Bon, a Swiss-Congolese journalist, begins her own quest for identity. On her way to emancipation, she questions her past, her present and holds up a mirror to her country and her peers.
Her documentary film won a Swiss Film Award and the Prix Artopie at the Festival International du film sure les droits humains in 2023. In the same year, Rachel M’Bon was named on of the 100 personalities of the year by the Swiss newspaper Le Temps.
