Kalima is een zevenkoppig collectief uit Leiden dat psychedelische cumbia vermengt met disco, funk en elektronische grooves. Aangedreven door aanstekelijke ritmes en rijke percussie is hun sound energiek, dansbaar en geïnspireerd door bands als Los Mirlos, Gitkin, Yin Yin, Frente Cumbiero en Romperayo. Live is de drempel laag, en de energie hoog, dus dansen is het devies.
Hun debuut-EP verscheen in februari 2025 en werd opgenomen op de vintage tapemachine van Doe Maar in de Far Out Sound Studio in Rotterdam. Deze release werd gevierd met een uitverkochte show in de Nobel leverde Kalima een plek op in de officiële Popronde-selectie van 2025.
Kalima speelde inmiddels al door heel Nederland, met festivaloptredens op onder andere Landjuweel, Badlands, Noorderzon, Peel Slowly And See, Museumnacht en Funked Up, en als support act voor bands als The Mauskovic Dance Band en Collignon.
Aansluitend spelen de X deejays hun tropische plaatjes!

Cumbia discodelica!
Kalima is a 7-piece collective from Leiden, blending psychedelic cumbia with disco, funk, and electronic grooves. Driven by infectious rhythms and rich percussion, their sound is vibrant, danceable, and inspired by bands like Los Mirlos, Gitkin, Yin Yin, Frente Cumbiero and Romperayo. Live, the threshold is low, the energy is high and the music will definitely move your feet.
Their debut EP, released in February 2025 and recorded on Doe Maar’s vintage tape machine at Far Out Sound Studio in Rotterdam, led to a spot in the official Popronde 2025 selection.
Kalima has been performing extensively across the Netherlands, and made numerous appearances at festivals such as Landjuweel, Badlands, Noorderzon, Peel Slowly And See, Museumnacht and Funked Up, as well as playing support to bands like The Mauskovic Dance Band and Collignon.
Following the concert, the X deejays will play their tropical songs!
