NEW BEGINNERS 4 WEEK SWING AND LINDY BLOCK STARTS 2nd March.
Take a step back in time and enjoy the rhythm and blues of the 1920-1940s with Rock and Rhythm Dance Studio! Every Monday Night at the polish association of Newcastle! The huge dance floor comes alive with the timeless charm of swing and Lindy Hop.
Come learn with me, with over 20 years of dance experience in swing, rock and roll and Lindy! Over my dance career I’ve learnt with all shook up, blue suede shoes and am a member and performer at the Sydney Swing Katz for over 15 years.
My classes are not just about learning moves, my classes are about finding yourself within the music, unleashing your inner dancer and connecting with other dancers you might not have met!
Whether you’re a complete beginner, or a regular on the social dance floor, come join us for a night of laughter, learning, and plenty of fancy footwork.

Feeling a bit hesitant to hit the dance floor? Thinking you have two left feet? Fear not I’ll have you grooving in no time!
Join Rock and Rhythm Dance Studio for an exciting dance class guaranteed to fill your night with fun and laughter!
In our beginner-friendly course, you'll master the fundamental steps of swing with ease, all while building the confidence to get up and shine on the social floor. So, ditch the nerves, dress comfortably, and leave your worries at the door - no partner required, just your willingness to give it a go!
It's recommended that beginners start in the first 2 weeks (2nd March ; 9th March) or wait until the next beginners block to start on the 6th April.
/ 8PM; INTERMEDIATE SWING /
Ready to take your dance skills to the next level? Join our intermediate-level swing and Lindy Hop class for a fun journey through more advanced moves, refined technique, and stylish flair! We recommend completing our beginners course as a prerequisite as you'll dive deep into the art of leading and following with a partner, more complex moves and combos, mastering intricate footwork variations, and adding your own personal touch to every step, all an extension of our beginners course. Get ready to expand your dance repertoire and have a blast learning new moves!

$15 per person. Or purchase a 4 week pass for $55 per person. Purchase at the door (cash & card accepted).

/ FAQ /
1. When can I start?
If you're a beginner, we have new beginner blocks starting every 4 weeks. If you've danced before, our intermediate classes run year round and don't follow specific blocks - just drop on in and give it a go.
2. What do I wear?
I recommend flat shoes and comfortable clothing. Whilst some dancers love to get all dressed up, others just wear what makes them happy. A dance class is sometimes like a little workout 😁
3. Do I need a partner?
Come alone, bring a friend or invite a whole group. We encourage rotating partners in our classes, both to improve your skills and so you can meet some new friendly faces you'll see on the social dance floor. I will step in too, so it's a good opportunity to ask for more one on one help!
4. Do we have to swap partners?
Whilst we encourage everyone to swap partners during class, as it's the best way to learn, you're more than welcome to stay together for the whole class. We want to make sure everyone feels comfortable when learning to dance.
5. Do I need to book?
No need to book in just drop in and pay on the day! Both cash and card will be accepted.
