About this Event

Join us upstairs at The Hop Inn on the second every month for a night of laughs at the Old Town Comedy Club FRESH Material Night! Comics from across the UK roadtesting brand spanking new jokes!

Your headliner for July is Abbie Murphy, as seen on such comedy classics as Miranda (BBC), 'Here We Go' (BBC) Cheaters (BBC) The Stand Up Sketch Show (ITV) and the Ricky Gervais Movie: Life on the Road.

Abbie will be previewing her new show for 2026 - 'Garage Girl'

Run, come, gather round! A love letter to UK Garage and the iconic tunes that defined a generation. 'Garage Girl' is for anyone who lived it, loved it, or found it through its revival — all while asking: was life really better then, or were we just young?

Murphy continues to cement her reputation as a rising comedic force. Finalist of Not So New Comedian of the Year 2025, Abbie Murphy is “nothing short of excellent” (Deadline News) and “One to watch” (The List).

As an actor, Abbie’s screen credits include starring as Serena Wilson in David Brent: Life on the Road, directed by Ricky Gervais, and appearing alongside Ryan Reynolds and Bill Nighy in Detective Pikachu as Cynthia McMaster. On television, she's known for Jekka in Cheaters (BBC) or as seen in Catastrophe (Channel 4), Breeders (Sky) with Martin Freeman, and Here We Go (BBC) with Katherine Parkinson and Alison Steadman.

PLUS - Comedians from across the UK running out new material
