World-famous but with origins right here in the Lowcountry, the Sweetgrass basket is one of the region’s best known art forms and cultural icons. Learn about the history of sweetgrass basket sewing, materials used to create these beautiful and functional pieces of art, and sew your own sweetgrass basket to take home. Local basket sewers, Michael Smalls and Dino Badger, will guide you through the process and assist you every step of the way. This is a unique opportunity to learn from the experts and create your own sweetgrass basket with all materials and guidance provided.This 3-day, 3-hours per day, workshop does have very limited spots available, and reservations are required. The workshop will take place from 9:30am - 12:30pm on November 13, 14, and 15.
