Sweet Mother Annual Fundraising Gala

Sweet Mother is a 501(C)3 charity established to give underprivileged children both locally and globally a second chance through education. We believe that education helps the most vulnerable people transform their lives.

In recent years, Sweet Mother has built classrooms and provided annual scholarships at the FAWE (Forum of African Women Educationalists) Secondary School for Girls in Waterloo Village, Sierra Leone. Many of these girls were kidnapped, brutalized, and raped, during a 10-year war in Sierra Leone. This FAWE School has been a refuge for these girls who have lost everything. Many more children have been orphaned by the Ebola crisis in this part of West Africa and FAWE Sierra Leone has opened another facility to provide education for these children.

This year our local support will go to “You’re Our Unity” a community outreach organization committed to cultivating unity and peace by inspiring self-love, leadership, and empowerment – especially in today’s youth. “You’re Our Unity “ believes that when young people are seen, supported and celebrated, they are better equipped to become the change-makers our world needs. This organization also awards scholarships to graduate high school seniors who exemplify courage, resilience, and a commitment to personal academic growth.

Since 2011, Sweet Mother has raises funds and awareness for its educational objectives through an annual dinner dance event, The Sweet Mother Awards, which celebrates the outstanding accomplishments and strength of Ordinary Women some of which have successfully balanced motherhood, careers, and community service. This platform has created a network of individuals motivated to educate people in need of support and provides for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
