Swansea Illustrator’s Club [SIC] Presents: Instrument Drawing Boot Camp

Calling all illustrators! Join the Swansea Illustrators Club for a hands-on, observational drawing session designed to sharpen your visual memory. Hosted by local conceptual illustrator and educator TS Wolfe, this Instrument Drawing Boot Camp is all about learning to see the structure of things.

TS Wolfe will be bringing a unique collection of instruments—including a sitar, accordion, violin, banjo and more!—for a specialised still-life session. The goal of the workshop is to teach you how to capture the true essence of each instrument. You’ll learn how to simplify complex forms while retaining the essential iconography that makes a violin look like a violin, or a sitar look like a sitar.

What to Bring:

Your own drawing materials: Materials are not supplied, so please bring your trusty sketchbook, your favorite pencils, pens, or whatever medium you prefer.

An instrument (optional but encouraged!): We’d love for attendees to bring their own instruments for others to draw. We currently don't have any brass or woodwind in the collection, so if you have a tuba, trumpet, or flute gathering dust—bring it along!

Swansea Illustrator’s Club is a friendly, informal meet-up for illustrators in and around Swansea to connect, explore ideas, and find support. This meet-up is open to all illustrators - whether you are a student, a seasoned professional, or just starting out. It is a space to meet peers, share experiences, and get the creative juices flowing for the year ahead. These meet-ups are hosted by Tom Wolfe.
