🌿 Greenville Roots & Routes: Black Hikers — Beginner Conditioning Walk 🌿Come join us for a 5-mile walk along the Swamp Rabbit Trail starting from Unity Park! This event is designed especially for beginners and anyone looking to build conditioning, endurance, and stamina for future moderate hikes.
Along the way, we’ll pause to talk through essential hiking topics, including:
Choosing the right footwear
Layering clothing for comfort and safety
Basic gear every hiker should know about
Plus, we’ll answer any questions you may have!
We’ll also take a relaxing break at Swamp Rabbit Café to grab a small snack, coffee, or hot chocolate before we continue.
🌬️ Dress Warm — It’ll Be Cold!
Please come prepared for winter temps. We recommend bringing:
Fleece cap
Gloves
Wool socks
Comfortable shoes (preferably the ones you’ll hike in)
Neck gaiter
Chapstick
Wet-weather jacket (rain or snow… we hiking!)
This is a supportive, low-pressure event aimed at helping everyone feel confident and ready to take on more challenging trails in the future. We’re all growing together—one mile at a time.
