About this Event

General Information on Temple University Music Prep and Greather Philadelphia Suzuki Association: GPSA is a non-profit organization that aspires to improve the quality of life through the Suzuki approach of music education. Performers in this event will include violin, viola, cello, and string bass of various ages and musical levels. A Play-In brings students and teachers from the area together in shared repertoire to present a fun and casual concert. Pieces will be performed in group style led by different Suzuki teachers. Pieces can be performed by memory or sheet music. Standard harmony parts are welcome! Participants in this event, as with all GPSA events or Music Prep events, are subject to having their photos taken or video recordings for social media posts. As this is a family event, we encourage families to create photo and/or video memories. We are a huge family and cherish these moments. Thank you for making musical memories with us. Temple Music Prep provides high quality, non-credit music and dance instruction, and related activities to the Philadelphia community on behalf of the Boyer College of Music and Dance and Temple University at-large. Temple Music Prep enjoys a reputation nationwide for program innovation and teaching excellence. It offers individual lessons and group enrichment opportunities for children and adults. Music Prep’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians is designed specifically for the training of young instrumentalists (strings and harp) who demonstrate great potential for musical achievement. The Community Music Scholars Program (which includes the Philadelphia String Project at Temple University) provides opportunities for school-aged Philadelphia children.

Time: The Play-in starts promptly at 10:30am EST. Please arrive no later than 10:15am EST to allow unpacking, tuning, restroom, etc. Participants are welcome to arrive as early as 9:45am EST. This event will end at 12noon EST at the latest. The Play-In will be held in room 222 at Temple University Music Prep Center City.
Address: 1515 Market Street Philadelphia, PA 19102. 2nd floor of the building. The entrance is not on Market Street. Walk around the corner to the plaza and across from H&R Block is an awning and you'll see a large sign with the Temple "T."

There is no Zoom or virtual equivalent platform for this event. This is an in-person event.

Parking: Discounted parking is available at the lots listed on the Temple University Center City website. https://centercity.temple.edu/about/getting-here. TO OBTAIN VALIDATION of parking, after the concert and before picking up your car, please visit the ground floor security desk. Use the iPad in the lobby of Temple University Music Prep to validate your parking ticket. The iPad is mounted on the wall. Take a photo of your ticket barcode and hit YES to Validate. That discounts parking to $10 on Saturdays.

Parking Address: Parkaway Parking is 1500 Market Street Philadelphia, PA. This is the Centre Square Building. The entrance to this underground garage is on 16th St. and Ranstead St. with a ramp descending underground. Temple University Music Prep has parking validation available at the kiosk lobby of Music Prep. This iPad validating your parking lowers parking fee to $10/12 hours. Validate your ticket by scanning it on the iPad in the lobby before returning to your vehicle. Then, you can pay for your parking right at the parking garage. If you use this parking facility, the parking elevators take you directly to the lobby of Centre Square, across the street from Music Prep. To get to Music Prep from the garage after exiting the elevators, walk and exit the building by walking towards City Hall. The clothespin sculpture is a good gigantic visual marker. Returning to this parking garage is the same way, via Centre Square lobby and elevators. You must use the intercom outside Centre Square building for their security to open doors for you.
