SUVSA 19th Annual Xuân Festival: Theo Ánh Sao Dẫn Lối/Follow the Starlight

Seattle University's Vietnamese Student Association formally invites you to this year's 19th annual Xuân Cultural Festival - Theo Ánh Sao Dẫn Lối / Follow the Starlight.

"Following the Starlight" encapsulates the multifaced journey of first-generation Vietnamese-American children as they navigate the complex process of growing up, torn between embracing their Vietnamese heritage and assimilating into American society. This metaphorical journey symbolizes the internal conflict of balancing cultural identities, bridging the generational gap between traditional values and modern expectations, and overcoming educational and social challenges. It highlights the need for cultural harmony and acceptance within both family dynamics and peer relationships, emphasizing personal growth, resilience, and the pursuit of a balanced identity that embraces the richness of both Vietnamese and American cultures.

This event will showcase Vietnamese culture through beautiful performances, a heart-warming yet humorous skit, and delicious food. We will be selling yummy snacks, drinks, traditional Vietnamese food, and merchandise, as well as raffling off fun and exciting prizes.

We hope you can join us for this night of culture and fun!

All proceeds will be going to Rock-Paper-Scissors Children's Fund.

"We collaborate with local communities, the local Red Cross, and schools to identify girls living in rural areas who are need of a bicycle to travel to school, and we collaborate with ethnic minority schools and communities to support girl's education, through after-school programs in the arts and learning opportunities through tutoring support."
