About this Event
First join the Climate Change Secretariat for a discussion and presentation on how climate change impacts Yukon tourism and how the Government of Yukon is improving Yukon’s climate resilience. We'll dive into how climate change, from extreme weather to unpredictable conditions, is reshaping tourism in the territory. Learn how these hazards could affect your business and the backcountry experience, and explore recommendations that can help our territory build resilience in a changing climate.
Then, join an Emergency Management Planner from Community Services for a discussion on the increasing frequency of incidents, where to access current information, what services are available to support people displaced by natural or human-caused incidents, and how these relate to business continuity planning for Tourism Operators. We'll also explore how back-country tourism operators can share on-the-land observations with hazard experts, such as the Water Resources Board, Wildland Fire, and Yukon Geological Survey, in ways tailored to specific attendees.
