Sustainable Beef Systems - Easter Howgate Farm

After the success of last year’s Sustainable Beef Systems series, this winter FAS brings you, 'The cow of the future’. The conversation around carbon efficiency in beef systems is relatively new and while emissions are clearly an important metric going forward, for a beef system to be sustainable it must be profitable.

Join us at SRUC's Easter Howgate Farm in Penicuik where we will have a farm ‘walk and talk’ to see the scientific principals being applied to a commercial herd with a focus on making suckler enterprises profitable.

Speakers include SRUC’s George Baikie, Carol Ann Duthie, Gemma Miller, John Farquar, Bruce Wyper and Arwell Owen from Genus. The event will also include a tour of the newly launched UltraGreenCow facility.

Please note this will be a mixed indoor and outdoor event, warm/waterproof clothing is advisable. Lunch will be provided. Booking is essential as numbers will be capped.
