🌶️🏈 Susky Chili Bowl – 1st Annual Championship 🏈🌶️
The Susky Chili Bowl is a new annual chili competition inspired by the long-standing Susky Bowl football rivalry between Havre de Grace and Perryville. This event brings that same spirit of friendly competition and community pride into our local American Legions and VFWs on both sides of the Susquehanna River.
The following posts will compete head-to-head, each entering their top 3 chilis to battle for bragging rights and a traveling trophy:
• American Legion Susquehanna Post 135 • Jerry Skrivanek V.F.W. Post 8185 • Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion • Weedon Elliott V.F.W. Post 8126
Guests can participate in the tasting by donating $5 to sample all 12 chilis. To keep the competition fair, all chilis will be covered and only labeled by number, so no one will know which post made which chili while voting.
The chili that raises the most money will be crowned the 1st Annual Susky Chili Bowl Champion. 🏆
In addition to tastings, guests can purchase cups or bowls of chili, with all chili sales counting toward the overall votes and money raised.
Each year’s winning post will host the following year’s championship and select the nonprofit that will benefit, helping this event grow and give back year after year.
This year’s event will help support Special Olympics Maryland, supporting athletes and programs that strengthen our communities.
Come hungry, support a great cause, and be part of the first chapter of what we hope becomes a lasting local tradition. Please bring cash for tastings, chili sales, and raffles.
There will be a designated container at each chili station where guests can place their cash votes, with every dollar counting as a vote for that chili.
